Project Description:
This project proposal is to amend the existing INAC LUP (N2014C0005). North Country Gold Corp. (NCGC) plans to construct an ice trail from Hayes Camp to the newly identified Aiviq gold prospect during the 2018 Spring drilling season. The ice trail will be located strictly on Crown Land, following the Hayes River in a northerly direction for approximately 9.5 km and then swinging in a north easterly direction, following an unnamed river for approximately 8 km, before finishing the last leg over rocky ground of approximately 2.5 km. The ice trail construction will be done guided by the NCG Working on Ice SOP together with the Guidelines for Safe Ice Construction from the NWT Department of Transport, dated February 2015. The ice thickness measuring crew will be followed by a D6 dozer which will level thick snow drifts to enable safe passage of snowmobiles, a D6 dozer pulling a sleigh loaded with drill equipment / fuel and Hagglund personnel carriers to and from the Aiviq gold prospect supporting a day and nightshift schedule. A helicopter will be available from Hayes Camp to evacuate injured personnel on short notice back to Hayes Camp during legal light hours. To enhance safe travel, wooden stakes equipped with reflective tape will be installed along the entire route at 50 m intervals on either side of the trail to guide vehicles along the trail and to prevent straying off the tested route where the ice thickness and conditions are known. It is envisaged that a four-person crew with a snowmobile, ice auger and a D6 dozer will take between 3 and 4 days to construct such a trail, starting around the middle of March 2018. Any hazardous material, i.e. fuel, oils etc. transported along the ice trail by sleigh will be stored in secondary containment. No water will be drawn from any water body along the ice trail for road maintenance and if material is required, snow will be pushed. If any spills occur along the ice trail, they will be dealt with according to the NCGC Spill Prevention and Response Plan 28 October 2015. Similarly, any wildlife interactions during construction or during use will be treated according to the NCGC Corporate and Social Responsibility Action Plan November 2014.

This project proposal is to amend the existing INAC LUP (N2014C0005). North Country Gold Corp. (NCGC) plans to construct an ice trail from Hayes Camp to the newly identified Aiviq gold prospect during the 2018 Spring drilling season.

Waste and Impacts
Environmental Impacts
No environmental impacts are anticipated since the 5 guidelines as per the LUP N2014C0005 will be followed: Select a winter route that maximizes the use of frozen water bodies (condition 21), maintain a minimum of 10 cm packed snow on all winter roads (condition 22), testing of ice thickness prior to any use of route by equipment or vehicles (condition 23), dogleg trails that approach lakes / streams (condition 24), select routes to minimize approach grades and ramps will be constructed of ice and snow free of sediment (condition 25), if required snow will be pushed, otherwise no surface disturbance will be done. If garbage and spills are missed during daily inspections, the demob phase will be used to remove the trail side pickets, collect garbage and clean up spills as per the NCGC Spill Prevention and Response Plan 28 Oct 2015 (already attached).
Waste Management
Waste Type Quantity Generated Treatement Method Disposal Method
Combustible wastes Minimal gererated by drill crews then transported back to Hayes camp daily. Ash will be transported from Hayes camp to a certified disposal facility, likely in Yellowknife. Incinerate in Hayes camp's dual chamber incinerator.
